Prevention and Early Detection of Cancer
It Could Save Your Life!
q Enjoy 5 to 10 servings of vegetables and fruits each day. q Take part in 30 – 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity most days of the week. q Attain or maintain a healthy body weight. q Be smoke-free. Avoid second hand smoke; if you smoke keep trying to stop until you succeed.
q Use a waterproof sunscreen with a SPF of 15 or more q Regular pap tests can prevent most cancer of the cervix. Women should have regular pap tests until at least age 70. q Regular breast screening in women 50 and over saves lives. Call the Ontario Breast Screening Program at 519-881-4030 or 519-376-8637.
q Men 50 or more should talk about prostate screening with their Family Physician. q If you have a family history of breast, colorectal or prostate cancer discuss with your health care professional screening at an earlier age.
