Signs and Symptoms of Prostate Cancer
Having the following signs and symptoms does not
necessarily mean that you have prostate cancer. Many men with early prostate
cancer usually do not have symptoms, and occasionally even men with quite
advanced tumors have no symptoms of disease. These symptoms are not limited to
prostate cancer and may be caused by other problems, such as benign enlargement
of the prostate, so see your health care professional to be sure.
Signs and symptoms of prostate cancer may
include:
-
Trouble passing
urine (difficulty starting or stopping urine flow)
-
Urgent need to
urinate
-
Frequently
needing to urinate, especially at night
-
Unable to urinate
-
Blood in the
urine or semen
-
Pain during
ejaculation
-
Weak, decreased
or interrupted urine flow
-
Sense of not
completely emptying the bladder
-
Pain or burning
during urination
Early detection of prostate cancer is important for successful
treatment. Men should report any of these signs and symptoms to their health
care professional. Diagnostic tests
can be conducted if prostate cancer is suspected.
