|
Foods that may help
Ø applesauce Ø bananas Ø tapioca pudding Ø toast, crackers Ø rice, boiled potatoes Ø yogurt Ø soup – broth based; not rich/creamy Ø porridge |
Foods to avoid
Ø prune juice Ø coffee, chocolate Ø alcohol Ø spicy, fried or fatty foods Ø some raw fruits and vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and brussel sprouts that are gas forming |
Some people find that dairy products will aggravate diarrhea while others will not.
Do not restrict protein, i.e. meat or meat alternatives (e.g. peanut butter, mild cheeses, eggs, tuna), as you tolerate more solid foods. Your body needs protein to gain strength and promote healing.
