Funded Dental Programs for Children and Teens

 

 

 

CINOT (Children In Need of Treatment):

This program provides free urgent and essential dental care to children and youth. These services can include: emergency extractions, fillings and sedation, fluoride, scaling, dental health information and more. Braces are not covered by this program.

 

To be eligible for treatment, a child or teen must meet the following criteria:

is 17 or under

bullet

has dental pain, infection, large cavities and/or bleeding gums

bullet

has no dental insurance

bullet

parent or caregiver is unable to pay for child or teen to go to the dentist.

 

If you live in Grey or Bruce counties, call the Health Unit at 519-376-9420 or 1-800-263-3456 or email us. Children or teens must be approved by a Public Health Dental Hygienist BEFORE any treatment using this funding can start.

 

Healthy Smiles Ontario:

This program provides free regular dental services to children and teens who do not have any type of dental coverage. These services can include: regular cleanings, polishing, fillings, x-rays and more. Braces are not covered by this program.

 

To be eligible for this program, a child or teen must meet the following criteria:

is 17 or under

bullet

is a resident of Ontario

bullet

is a member of a household with an Adjusted Family Net Income of $20,000 per year or less

bullet

does not have access to any form of dental coverage (including other government-funded programs, like Ontario Works)

bullet

Complete a Healthy Smiles Ontario Application Form (Form A)

Don’t qualify or not sure if you qualify?

 

We can answer that for you. We have other free dental programs that we can discuss with you too! If your child or teen:

is 17 or under

bullet

does not meet the criteria for CINOT or Healthy Smiles Ontario, and/or

bullet

is in need of dental services,

bullet

doesn’t have dental insurance, and

bullet

paying for dental treatment would cause a financial hardship for the family,
