Prenatal Home Visiting

Together, a public health nurse and parent support worker will help you learn how to give your baby the best start.  We have the information you need for a healthy pregnancy and can explain what to expect during delivery.  We can also tell you what services are available in your community and link you with the ones that fit your needs.

The public health nurse can:

  •  help you understand your pregnancy and how to take care of yourself.

  •  tell you what to expect when you give birth and how to prepare.

  •  help you get ready for breastfeeding your baby.

  •  link you with medical care.

  •  link you with other services if you need them.

The parent support worker can:

  •  encourage and support you.

  •  talk about the basics of baby care.

  •  go with you to doctor’s appointments if you like.

  •  give you recipe ideas for healthy cooking and snacks.

  •  show you how to make your home safe for your baby.

  •  help you meet other parents.
