Community Actors Ready for Local Play

WALKERTON – Community volunteer actors with the “Stay on Your Feet” theatre troupe have been working hard and are now ready to present their play.  This play focuses on how to prevent falls in older adults.

Public Health Nurse Marguerite Thomas says, “I am delighted with the work of the volunteer actors.  Their enthusiasm and humour effectively brings home the message that falls can be prevented.”  Thomas is organizing eight “Stay on Your Feet” theatre troupes over the next two years.  These troupes of volunteers will bring the falls prevention message to the people of Grey and Bruce Counties.  Grey and Bruce Counties have consistently had higher rates of hospitalization from falls than the provincial average.

Organizations such as seniors groups, church groups, Woman’s Institute, the Legion and similar groups are invited to contact Winnie Schmidt if they wish to have the troupe bring the play to their members.  She can be contacted at 881-0778.

Funding for these productions has been made possible through a grant from the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation.
