Bike/Walk to Work Challenge kicks off May 17 and offers plenty of events until June 28, 2004
The 2nd annual Bike/Walk to Work Challenge kicks off at Owen Sound City Hall on May 17, 2004. The media and public are invited to join Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hazel Lynn and Owen Sound Acting Mayor Bill Twaddle at 8:00 a.m. Light refreshments will be served. Other events like TGIF lunch walks, bicycle seminars, mountain bike excursions and wildflower hikes are planned throughout May and June. Media – please assist us by advising the public of these events (attached). The challenge runs until June 28, 2004, with participants getting a chance to win prizes every time they bike or walk to work (even just one way).
The Bike/Walk to Work Challenge is organized by the Public Health Unit, City of Owen Sound, County of Grey, Jolley’s Alternative Wheels, Transcontinental Printing Inc. and V.I.T.A.L. (vision for transportation alternatives). Those who live, work or commute in Owen Sound who are interested in participating in the Challenge can call the Health Unit at 376-9420, Ext. 268. -30-
