News Release October 19, 2005.
Three year olds get ready and get set to learn
Kindergarten registration for Grey and Bruce Counties is now underway for all children born in 2002. Parents and guardians should call their local school to book an appointment.
Going to school is one of the most important steps a child’s lifetime. It can be both an exciting and a scary experience for children. Recognizing that, the Grey Bruce Health Unit and local health and social service professionals are working together to make the transition to school easy and fun for all children.
Early registration offers parents an opportunity to learn what they can do to help their children get ready for school. At registration children and parents can learn about community resources, visit the school and meet the teacher, other parents and future classmates.
The first five years of life are central to children’s healthy brain development and learning. In fact, by age three, a child’s brain is twice as active as an adult’s. Parents can make the most of this important time by talking, listening and playing with their children.
