Jim Paton Receives alPHa Distinguished Service Award

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is pleased to announce Jim Paton is the winner of the Association of Local Public Health Agencies (alPHa) 2007 Distinguished Service Award. The award recognizes significant contributions to public health at the provincial level.

Mr. Paton recently retired from the position as Director of Health Protection with the Grey Bruce Health Unit following 37 years service in public health.

Colleagues at the Association of Supervisors of Public Health Inspectors of Ontario (ASPHIO) nominated Mr. Paton for the award. In his letter of nomination, ASPHIO President Ken Gorman wrote of Jim Paton’s many contributions and positive impact, including how he "helped shape current government policy and regulations regarding safe drinking water",  and helped make the Grey Bruce Health Unit "a leader in providing excellent field training for future Public Health Inspectors."

The 2007 Distinguished Service Award was presented in Windsor on Monday, June 11 at the alPHa Awards Banquet in conjunction with the association’s annual conference, Public Health Connects.
