Quilt Donation Supports Healthy Infant Development
Kincardine – The Kincardine Quilters Guild donated 30 handcrafted quilts to the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program. These specially designed quilts are for distribution to local families in this program. The quilts encourage parents to promote Tummy Time with their babies. Tummy Time while a baby is awake helps to develop healthy upper body strength and to prevent baby flathead. Flathead, also known as plagiocephaly, does not affect how a baby’s brain develops but may affect the appearance of the child’s head. Parent Support Workers will use these special quilts as a surface mat for babies to promote Tummy Time. Krista Jones, Parent Support Worker, and Doris Galbraith, Public Health Nurse, with the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program were present to accept the quilts. The Kincardine Quilters Guild hopes other local quilter groups will take up making these quilts as a project for their members.
