News Release For Immediate Release February 15, 2008
What are you doing to celebrate Family Day?
On February 18, 2008, families will celebrate Ontario’s newest statutory holiday Family Day. Last fall, Ontario Premier Dalton McGinty announced the third Monday in February as an annual statutory holiday designated as Family Day.
“Family Day presents an opportunity for families to spend time together in activities that will benefit their health.” says Family Health Program Manager, Carrie Griffith. “In Grey Bruce we can take advantage of the wonderful winter weather and enjoy outdoor activities as a family such as sledding, skiing and skating. If your family is more interested in staying warm indoors, a game day, cooking time or storytelling hour are good Family Day activities.”
For a listing of free or low cost family activities taking place in your community on Family Day, contact your local recreation department, arena or municipality. Remember that any day can be Family Day! Take time to enjoy your family.
