Local Students Spread the Word about Alcohol and Pregnancy
Winners in a media contest to increase awareness of the problems associated with alcohol use during pregnancy were one of the highlights of the Bruce County Museum’s Comm-Tech Showcase, June 11. The event puts the spotlight on the works of the talented youth of Saugeen District Secondary School. The school’s Communications Program partnered with the Grey Bruce FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) Community Mobilization Committee to run a media contest. Students designed posters and 30 second videos to help spread the message that alcohol and pregnancy don’t mix. The project was funded by the Grey Bruce FOCUS Project.
The Galaxy Cinemas donated movie passes to the students receiving honourable mention for their entries. Additional special thanks go to the members of the Owen Sound Youth Action Alliance who helped to judge the entries.
