Bayshore and Kelso Beach Posted Unsafe for Bathing

Due to the heavy rains last night, a small sewage bypass occurred at the Owen Sound treatment plant.

As a precaution, both Kelso and Bayshore beaches have been posted unsafe for bathing. Environmental samples will be taken at several points this morning to ascertain if there are higher than normal levels of bacteria in the water. The posting will be lifted once samples show that results are within acceptable levels.

Kelso beach is not part of the 2010 sample regime, however due to historic evidence it has been posted as well as Bayshore.

Beach information on our website is updated as conditions change. For more information, please call 519-376-9420 or 1-800-263-3456 or visit www.publichealthgreybruce.on.ca.
