Housing Inquiries

  • investigate and resolve potential health hazards in or around rental or private housing properties

  • provision of information on the reduction or elimination of possible health hazards

  • consultation on such issues as potable water; air quality; heating; sanitation; maintenance; insect/rodent infestations; renovation risks (lead paint/solder, asbestos); Flood Damage; Urea Formaldehyde Foam Insulation (U.F.F  [I.)]; Radon In Homes.


Air Quality Inquiries

  • promote safe and healthy indoor air quality

  • provide the public with information regarding indoor and outdoor air quality

  • investigate public inquiries or concerns about air quality through monitoring air quality and providing advice on improving indoor air quality.

Air Quality in Arenas 

  • ensure safe air quality within ice arenas

  • routinely test and monitor air quality in arenas

  • check operating efficiency of ice resurfacing machinery to ensure low emissions of hazardous fumes

  • respond to health related inquiries/complaints

Hazardous Chemical and Substance Inquiries 

  • promote public awareness regarding hazardous chemicals and substances

  • provide information about the potential health risks inherent in chemicals or hazardous substances

  • advise on safety practices necessary to reduce risk of exposure during use or removal of these materials

  • promote a decrease of inappropriate or indiscriminate use of or exposure to hazardous chemicals or substances; i.e lead, asbestos, pesticides, herbicides, sanitizers, solvents, etc. Tritium Study - Executive Summary

 

Migrant Housing Accommodation 

  • provide an inspection service to ensure suitable accommodation and safe drinking water for offshore workers in the agricultural industry

Recreational Camps

  • ensure that all recreational camps provide and maintain a healthy environment

  • inspect all camps annually to ensure adequate accommodation, ventilation, lighting, fire protection, sanitary facilities, and water supplies
