News Release For Immediate Release April 3, 2006
Fifth Annual Falls Prevention Tea
“Help I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” It’s a phrase heard too often in Grey Bruce. This area has both a higher number of seniors than the provincial average and a higher number of hospitalizations due to falls.
The fifth annual “Stay on Your Feet Tea”, sponsored by the Community Coalition for the Prevention of Falls in Older Adults, offers information on osteoporosis and preventing falls. Dairy Farmers of Canada Dietitian Helen Bishop MacDonald, author of The Everyday Calcium Cookbook, will speak on “Osteoporosis ~ never too late to protect your bones”. This event takes place April 27 at the Trillium Court Seniors Community, 550 Philip Place, Kincardine. Exhibits from local health care agencies open at 1:30 p.m.; tea is served at 2:00 p.m. followed by Helen Bishop MacDonald’s presentation.
Admission is free; donations go to support the work of the coalition.
