Be Prepared Not Scared
SAUGEEN SHORES – An emergency can happen at any time; a snow or ice storm, a power outage or a pandemic could affect the health, safety or property of a significant portion of the population. Being prepared for an emergency can ensure both safety and peace of mind.
An Emergency Preparedness Forum for the residents of Saugeen Shores will be held at The Plex in Port Elgin on Wednesday, October 18 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The forum will inform the residents of Saugeen Shores about emergencies, the impact an emergency may have upon the community, methods for personal preparedness for an emergency and information regarding emergency plans in place within Saugeen Shores. Panel speakers include: Bruce Fenton, Fire Chief and Community Emergency Management Coordinator for the Town of Saugeen Shores; Stephanie Murray, Community Services Coordinator for the Grey Bruce branch of the Canadian Red Cross; and Angela Newman, Public Health Inspector with the Grey Bruce Health Unit. A question and answer period following the panel presentations will allow residents to pose questions relating to their personal situations during an emergency. -30-
