News Release For Immediate Release July 25, 2007
Point Clark, Lurgan and Concession 6 Beach all located in Huron-Kinloss are Posted Unsafe for Bathing
As part of routine sampling and surveying, Public Health staff observed dense rotting algae-like substance near the shores of Point Clark, Lurgan and Concession 6 beaches. As a result, the near shore water is cloudy, murky and has a foul odour. Local residences have also notified Public Health of this situation. The Ministry of the Environment has inspected the shorelines and has confirmed that the cause is due to lake affect algae.
These areas will be posted immediately for unsafe bathing. The area will remain posted until further site visits and sampling deem these beaches safe for bathing within the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care protocol.
