News Release For Immediate Release April 22, 2008
Seventh Annual Falls Prevention Tea
“Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” It’s a phrase heard too often in Grey Bruce. This area has both a higher number of seniors than the provincial average and a higher number of hospitalizations due to falls.
The seventh annual Stay on Your Feet Tea, sponsored by the Community Coalition for the Prevention of Falls in Older Adults and the Osprey Women’s Institute, offers information on osteoporosis and preventing falls. Judy Porteous, Osteoporosis Canada Area Manager will speak on Osteoporosis ~ Speaking of Bones. This event takes place May 3 at the Maxwell Community Centre. Exhibits from local health care agencies open at 1:30 p.m.; tea is served at 2:00 p.m., followed by the osteoporosis presentation.
Admission is free; donations go to support the work of the coalition, especially the Home Support Exercise Program for frail and homebound older adults.
