Guys Caring for Kids Photo Contest - Winners Announced

The 2^nd Annual Guys Caring for Kids Photo Contest is now complete. The Photo Contest challenges people of all ages to capture the visual stories of men in caring relationships with children. Although men are getting much more involved in lives of children as fathers, uncles, grandfathers, friends, coaches and neighbours, the majority of images of adults engaging with children still features women. Several organizations in Grey and Bruce have come together to raise the profile, celebrate and further encourage men’s roles in children’s lives.

The Top Three submissions (attached) are as follows:

1. Andy Foster (Owen Sound) – “Looking Together into the Future”

2. Kate Manwell (Annan) – “Gone Froggin”

3. Brett Curry (Markdale) – “Playing Guitar with Grandpa”

Honourable Mentions include:

• Tyler Stone – “Love of Learning”
• Ruth Henderson – “WHE-E”
• Christina Hill – “Astronaut Corn”
• Brett Curry – “Enjoying an Ice Cream”
• Andy Foster – “Reading Before Bed”

A special thank-you to contest sponsors including the Nuclear Waste Management Organization, Owen Sound Attack, Owen Sound and Area Family YMCA and Runner’s Den. The winning submissions from both the 2010 and 2011 contest are on display at the Grey Bruce Health Unit, 101 17^th Street East, Owen Sound until the end of April.
