Injuries are a silent epidemic…one
that’s taking its toll. In Ontario, injuries cost 2.9 billion dollars per
year, both in direct and indirect costs. That’s the equivalent to $260 for
every Ontario citizen! The Injury Prevention team at the Grey Bruce Health
Unit is launching the ‘No More Accidents! Call it what it is…Injury,
Collision, Incident or Crash’ campaign as one piece of our work with
Grey/Bruce residents to reduce the number of injuries that occur.
People generally do not intend for
an injury to happen, but we can prevent 9 out of 10 injuries from occurring
simply by recognizing risks we take in our everyday lives, and taking steps
to reduce those risks. Click on the links to find out more about injuries
and what you can do to help prevent them from occurring.

unintentional, but these injuries are predictable and preventable.”

“By changing the way the public views incidents, we can start to
help them see the risks in their everyday lives and show them how to
manage those risks in the smartest way possible so they can enjoy life
to the fullest.”
