The Grey Bruce Falls Prevention and Intervention Program:

Utilizes the World Health Organization’s
Age Friendly Cities Checklist
and the Murray Alzheimer Research and Education Program’s (MAREP)
Age Friendly Community Framework
to address the many factors involved with fall risk across the lifespan.
- Engages older adults across Grey and Bruce Counties in completion of the Age
Friendly Community Audit and discuss of factors that make their communities safe
and liveable.

Age Friendly Community Audit
The Age Friendly Community Audit asks older adults to consider the suitability
of material, construction, condition, maintenance and location of:
-
Sidewalks, Pathways, Trails and Stairs
-
Transportation
-
Access
-
Public Buildings and Spaces
-
Safety and Security
-
Policy
Older adults are asked to various components within each section
Based on Current Status and Priority.
Results of the Age
Friendly Community Audit are used to encourage dialogue, raise awareness and link
Age Friendly principles to falls prevention and the safety needs of older adults
living in Grey and Bruce Counties.
