Public Health is committed to supporting the people of Grey Bruce to make healthy food choices that are economical and environmentally friendly.  Healthy food choices can help you maintain a healthy weight and decrease the risk of health problems.

 

Use Canada’s Food Guide

  • Take a tour of the revised version of Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide.
  • You will learn about proper portions, the number of food group servings you need per day based on your gender and age, and how to choose the healthiest foods possible from each food group. 

 

Create a Healthy Meal

  • Need help creating a healthy meal for your family? Visit the Dietitians of Canada website and use their Let’s Make a Meal activity.

Eat Local

  • Many people are concerned about the distance their food has travelled and where it has come from.  If you are interested in eating more locally, visit  www.foodlinkgreybruce.com for links to over 300 local establishments that produce, sell or  serve local food. 
  • Plant a garden.  Container or large plot, individual or community,  make gardening part of your lifestyle. Visit the Public Health Agency of Canada’s website and read about gardening for your health.
