Should I Give My Body A Rest From The Pill?

NO, this is not necessary for your health. In fact, once your system is used to the pill you should keep on taking it to avoid irregular cycles and to keep the protection against pregnancy.

Does the Pill cause cancer?

NO, in fact the pill reduces the risk for certain cancers

Will The Pill Give Me Breast Cancer?

There is no evidence that the pill causes breast cancer.

Will The Pill Affect My Future Fertility?

NO, most women have no problems getting pregnant after they stop taking the pill.

Do Any Of My Other Medications Interact With The Pill?

YES, some do. Talk to your doctor or the pharmacist whenever you get medication.

Is It Okay To Go On The Pill And Smoke?

After age 35, your doctor will probably not prescribe the pill if you smoke. If you are a smoker and want to quit, discuss this with your family doctor. There is help.

Does The Pill Cause Weight Gain?

There is no evidence that the pill causes weight gain.  Estrogen in the pill may cause some bloating at first, but this should improve with within 3 months of starting the pill.
