How To Say No To Sex

Sometimes you find yourself in a situation that's getting out of hand. Perhaps when you are kissing and your partner’s hands are around your shoulders and neck and then, all of a sudden, they're wandering down your body. You want to stop. You don't want things to go any further. Well, how do you say "NO" without making your partner stop liking you and saying bad things about you to all his or her friends? How do you say "NO" so that your partner knows you mean it?

Here Are Some Suggestions:
  • Work out an understanding. Talk things over before you go too far.
  • Remind yourself that men and/or women don't have to have it; you can wait, so can they.
  • Don't be angry - be firm, move away, get up and do something so the mood changes.
  • You don't have to explain, but you can give a reason if you want to. "I've made up my mind to wait" or "I'm not ready to get involved", or whatever answer you're comfortable with.
  • Remind yourself of the responsibility of birth control, disease prevention and parenthood.
  • Respect yourself - know that the right person will wait for you.
  • Be aware of the possibility of sexually transmitted disease/infection and unwanted pregnancy.
