Find Out If Your Child is Buckled Up Properly…

You can make sure your little ones are buckled in correctly at a free car seat safety check on Thursday, May 8, 2003 at the Bruce Peninsula Family Centre in Lion’s Head.  The event runs from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.

It is not enough to have a car seat or booster, it must be used on every trip and it must be used correctly.  Each child seat on the market has its own method of installation.  Installation mistakes are often made because more information is needed.  Car seat clinics in Grey and Bruce have shown that over 90% of infant and child car seats are not installed or used properly.  Is yours?

Events include a free draw for a high-back booster seat, donated by the Ontario Early Years Satellite - Lion’s Head, a police cruiser on display, a playground on-site, and milk & cookies, provided by the Lion’s Head Family and Child Care Centre.

Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death in one- to four-year-olds.  The short, everyday trips to the grocery store, to work, to drop a child off at the day care, or to grandma and grandpa's house are probably some of the most dangerous situations your child will be exposed to.

Sponsors of this event are the Grey Bruce Health Unit, Ontario Early Years Satellite - Lion’s Head and the Ontario Provincial Police.
