Owen Sound Bike/Walk to Work Grand Prize Winner

The grand prize winner of 2006 Owen Sound Bike/Walk to Work Challenge is Louise Johnstone, teacher at St. Edmonds Public School in Tobermory. Johnstone wins a bicycle valued at $1,000.00 courtesy of Jolley’s Alternative Wheels in Owen Sound.  Louise cycles to work every day during the spring and cross country skis to work during the winter months.  Louise is a great role model for the 2006 Bike/Walk to Work Challenge.

Owen Sound’s fourth annual Bike/Walk to Work Challenge encourages residents to incorporate physical activity into the workday. There were 203 participants and 27 work places taking part in this year’s event.  Thirty minutes of physical activity a day, 4-7 times a week, reduces the risk of stroke, type 2 diabetes, heart disease and osteoporosis.
