Getting and staying healthy has never been so much fun…Gear up for spring with healthy living information from our region’s health and community service providers
Owen Sound – Celebrating the past, preparing for the future the 10th annual “Health for Life” Health Fair will be held Saturday, March 17, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Free admission to the Health Fair allows participants the opportunity to enjoy and learn from over 75 exhibits and six hands-on demonstrations, including: how to prepare for an emergency; participating in gentle fitness activities; learning about medication safety; and an introduction to the new Canada’s Food Guide. Free canvas tote bag for the first 500 families, door prizes every hour, snacks and free ice skating from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. provides something for everyone in the family to enjoy as a perfect March break activity.
Owen Sound Mayor Ruth Lovell will officially open this milestone event. The Grey Bruce Health Unit is the lead organization for this year, with a committee that includes community service providers and manufacturing facilities. John Brown, now retired from PPG and one of the original organizers, still sits on the committee and notes “This year being our tenth anniversary, we are planning on the largest Health Fair ever with over 75 exhibitors. It is great to see how the Fair has evolved from the focus of Health in the Workplace to Health and Wellness within the overall community of Owen Sound and area.”
Major sponsors of this event include Stan Brown Printers, The Sun Times, City of Owen Sound, Mix 106, Edwards, VanWyck Packaging, PPG, Grey Bruce Partners in Health, Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium, Grey Bruce Health Unit, Glenn Holst; Clarica, and RBW Graphics. -30-
