News Release For Immediate Release: August 13, 2008
Geocaching in the Libraries
Geocaching, an exciting and active adventure game using GPS (Global Positioning System), is now available through local libraries. Geocache systems are offered for loan at selected libraries in Grey and Bruce.
Geocaching is a high tech treasure hunt using a hand-held GPS receiver. The user seeks specific coordinates to find the location of hidden containers, called geocaches. Once found, a cache provides the individual with a wide variety of rewards. Individuals and organizations can set up caches anywhere and share the location of these caches on the Internet. There are more than 600 thousand geocache sites worldwide, including about 300 in Grey Bruce. For more information, check out www.geocaching.com.
Geocaching in the libraries is a partnership of the Bruce Grey Trail Network, Grey Bruce Partners in Health, the Grey Bruce Health Unit and the Bruce and Grey County Library Systems. -30-
