Growing Up Healthy with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Workshop
An upcoming workshop Growing Up Healthy with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder offers practical and helpful information about this range of conditions. Participants will gain a better understanding of how to effectively support people with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
Health professionals, social service professionals, teachers and family members are invited to attend 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, at the Chesley Community Centre (registration at 9:00). Please pre-register by March 7.
Dr. Barry Stanley, a parent of a child with FASD and highly regarded as a leading expert in the field, is the key presenter. Dr. Stanley is founding member and medical FASD consultant to FASD Hamilton Support Group, St. Michael’s Hospital Support Group and consultant to St. Michaels’s FASD Diagnostic Clinic, member of the of the FASD Ontario Stakeholders initiative, and the Hamilton FASD initiative.
Psychologist, Dr. Karen Baker, and Behavioral Specialist, Tim Frawley, both with Regional Support Associates, will also present. A panel discussion with individuals affected by FASD and family members will address the topic Growing Up Healthy with FASD.
The workshop is presented by the FASD Community Mobilization Committee with support from the Grey Bruce FOCUS Project and the Grey Bruce Training and Development Committee.
This event is free to parents and caregivers and $50.00 for professionals. Lunch will be provided.
