Baby On The Way? Attention expectant parents! Do you have questions about your labour and delivery? How about breastfeeding? What kind of car seat should you buy? Have you thought about what becoming a parent really means? If these questions sound familiar to you, then plan to attend “Healthy Start Prenatal Classes” in Kincardine and area. Participants will learn about signs and symptoms of labour, pain management and breathing techniques, breastfeeding, infant safety, early brain development and becoming a parent. There will be two series of classes, the first from April 16th to May 21st and the second will be held October 15th to November 19th. Both series will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7 - 9 p.m. The 6 night series of classes is a joint effort of the Grey Bruce Health Unit and South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine site. The classes are taught by a registered nurse from the Kincardine Hospital site, and a public health nurse. Whether this is your first, second, or third baby, you can never be too prepared! Why not make the call and register as soon as you hear your good news. Expectant parents may attend classes throughout the Grey Bruce area to best suit their delivery needs. Every expectant parent should get their hands on a copy of the “Let’s Grow…a Healthy Baby” prenatal guide. Contact your family physician or public health unit to obtain your copy. It covers everything you need to know to give your baby a healthy start in life. For those who can access the Internet, the new “Prenatal Education Web Site” developed by the Health Unit is ready to use.
