Wiarton Winner for Pedometer Lending Library Project
Lorrie Miller of Wiarton, age 64 years, is the winner of a new SW 200 Digi-Walker pedometer in a Grey Bruce Health Unit sponsored draw held December 16, 2005. She borrowed a pedometer package from the Wiarton Branch Library, which is part of the Bruce County Public Library system, and entered the draw for a free pedometer.
Miller is an educational assistant working for the Wiarton Christian Academy School. She states, “It was great to see pedometers at the library and it helped me to realize how many steps I take in a day. Because I walk around the school a lot when I am helping the children, I wanted to see how many steps I take in a day.” Miller was surprised to find she walked fewer steps than she thought. Miller states she has heart problems and needs to pay attention to her body. The pedometer is a way of reminding herself to stay active.
The Pedometer Lending Library Project, in partnership with the Grey Bruce Health Unit, makes pedometers available to borrow from any library in Grey and Bruce Counties. Draws for free pedometers are ongoing throughout the year. Entry is automatic upon completion of the evaluation form.
