Movin’ On Challenge Answered by Schools
In the recent Movin’ On physical activity challenge to schools, a winner was announced. Ms. Hellyer’s Grade 6 class at Hillcrest Elementary School in Owen Sound was awarded first place. They completed the most kilometres per student in the Bluewater District School Board Movin’ On Challenge during the week of November 22-26, 2004. These students at Hillcrest ran or walked a total of 445 kilometres for an average of 15.89 km per student during the 5 days. The class celebrated with a pizza party.
Second place in the Movin’ On challenge went to Mrs. Graham’s Grade 2 class at Walkerton Public School. Her students completed 291.85 kilometres, with an average of 13.27 km per child for the week.
Dawnview Public School in Hanover came in third with an average of 4.38 kilometres per student.
Grey Bruce Partners in Health (GBPIH) sponsors the Movin’ On programs to promote physical fitness and healthy living in schools in Grey and Bruce counties.
