Heart Health Study Released(Community Outreach Heart Health Risk Reduction Trial)
Dr. Rob Nolan, lead in the Community Outreach Heart Health Risk Reduction Trial (COHRT) will present those finding at a briefing Thursday April 27, 2006 in the Boardroom (room 202) , Grey Bruce Health Unit, Site 2, 1101 2nd Avenue East, 2nd Floor Owen Sound beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funded by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario the four-year clinical trial was designed to reduce risk factors for coronary heart disease and provide a personal risk factor profile with individual feedback. Almost three hundred participants across Grey Bruce took part. “The study showed great potential for outreach approaches including home based and web based when used in conjunction with feedback about personal risk.” says Dr. Nolan. The briefing will also include details of the follow-up, ISTART Study (Systolic Hypertension Research: A Strategic Transdisciplinary Approach to Risk Reduction Treatment), looking at web based life-style counseling designed to help people with hypertension to modify diet, exercise and smoking behaviours.
