Rescinding of Do Not Use Water Advisory for Residents who use water directly from Lake Rosalind.

Please be advised that as of 3:30 p.m. on November 30, 2006 the Grey Bruce Health Unit has rescinded a Do Not Use Water Advisory issued on November 28, 2006 for the residents near and around Lake Rosalind in the Municipality of Brockton.

Results of samples collected by the Ministry of the Environment indicate that the concentration level of toxin produced by blue-green algae found in the lake is below the recommended Maximum Allowable Concentration as set out in the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Standards.

The Ministry of the Environment will continue monitoring the lake and taking additional samples.

Preventing long-term exposures to low levels of toxin is recommended to avoid potential health risks. Those residents who use the lake as their direct drinking water source should be aware that blue-green algae blooms are a natural phenomena that occur in fresh water lakes during warm weather, thus this problem might resurface again in the future.
