Mighty Card Campaign
Walkerton – Students are asking Premier Dalton McGuinty to sue tobacco companies to recoup the cost of illness associated with the health effects of smoking. On Wednesday, November 1, 2006, Peer Leaders from the Grey Bruce Health Unit’s Youth Action Alliance will be at Walkerton District Secondary School, 1320 Yonge St., Walkerton, from 11:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. asking future taxpayers to sign mock ‘MasterCards’. The credit cards represent the cost of lives lost to tobacco. Signed cards indicate student support for the province to bring legal action against big tobacco. The signed cards will be forwarded to the premier’s office. Youth Action Alliance groups are carrying the Mighty Card Campaign across the province.
