News Release For Immediate Release September 6, 2007
Winners Announced in the Fifth Annual Bike/Walk to Work Challenge
The winners of the 5th Annual Bike/Walk to Work Challenge are:
The Challenge occurred May 22 to June 29, 2007 as a way to encourage employees to add physical activity to their workday. This year 50 schools and workplaces across Grey Bruce registered for the challenge. Participation was up from last year’s total of 37 registered schools and workplaces.
Participants of the Challenge indicated that it was a great incentive to get them walking and biking to work. A common request was to see the Challenge extended for longer than the six weeks in spring.
This fall, workplaces and schools will be encouraged to continue to support their employees and students to maintain an active lifestyle by registering for the upcoming World Record Walk on Wednesday, October 3, 2007. The World Record Walk will be coordinated in each municipality by the Community Action Teams as part of the PLAY in Bruce Grey physical activity strategy.
Information on the World Record Walk is available at www.worldrecordwalk.ca, by calling your municipal recreation department or Public Health at 519-376-9420.
