News Release For Immediate Release August 15, 2008
Beach Safety Confirmed
Beach sampling was undertaken as part of due diligence in relation to the investigation of an e-coli case in the region.
Public beaches in Southampton, Port Elgin and Inverhuron were all sampled on Thursday, August 14, 2008. Results from the testing show all beaches sampled are well within recreational bathing water standards. These beaches are all deemed safe for recreational use.
Historically these beaches have always sampled within recreational water guidelines. While the investigation into the source of the e-coli continues the sampling results diminishes the likelihood of the beach water being a possible source of contracting the infection.
