Communique #2
I am pleased to provide my second update on my work as Special Advisor to the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kieran Moore, in respect of the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
On Friday, October 24, 2025, at a second meeting of the health unit’s governance partners, I was pleased to introduce Dr. Eileen de Villa who has been appointed as a second Special Advisor to the Chief Medical Officer of Health, in respect of the Grey Bruce Health Unit. Dr. de Villa was the former Medical Officer of Health for the City of Toronto from 2017 to 2024 and for the Region of Peel from 2015 to 2017.
Bringing deep knowledge of public health practice and governance, Dr. de Villa will work with me to help Grey Bruce Public Health emerge stronger and better equipped to serve the community.
Together we are committed to work with the appointees to the Board of Health, Health Unit staff, and municipal partners on a comprehensive plan focused on strengthening leadership, rebuilding key relationships and ensuring long-term stability. We discussed these priorities at our recent meeting and look forward to sharing more information about these next steps soon.
I want to thank the Grey Bruce Health Unit’s key governance partners, the Counties of Grey and Bruce, for their continued collaboration, as well as the dedicated professionals at the Health Unit for their commitment to delivering public health services with professionalism, compassion, and care every day.
Jim Pine Special Advisor to the Chief Medical Officer of Health
