Update from the Special Advisors regarding work with the Board of Health for the Grey Bruce Health Unit

Over the past weeks, the Province of Ontario and the Counties of Grey and Bruce have continued their work to advance a renewed Board of Health for the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit.  As part of this process, the Counties and the Province concluded the terms of the previous Board members and began reviewing new appointments using the jointly developed skills‑based matrix.

On March 12, the province appointed two members to the Board: David Nusko and returning member Chad Richards. Biographical information on provincial appointees is available through the Public Appointments Secretariat. Up to four more provincial members may still be appointed.  The Counties of Grey and Bruce are separately proceeding with their respective processes for appointing the seven municipal members.

We are encouraged by this important step toward a reconstituted board and look forward to working with all members once the board is fully appointed.

In the interim, we have continued to work closely with the Health Unit’s senior leadership team and have been supporting Dr. Moore as he exercises his authority as the Board of Health under s. 77.1 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act.

We extend our thanks to Health Unit staff for their ongoing support and commitment to delivering essential public health services, and to the Counties for their continued collaboration on behalf of their communities.
