Grey Bruce Public Health is pleased to announce that Dr. Brittany Graham has been appointed to the permanent position of Grey-Bruce’s Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive Officer of GBPH, after serving in an acting capacity in this role since April 16, 2026.

The Board of Health for Grey Bruce Public Health formally approved the appointment during its regular meeting on Aug. 28, 2026.

The Board also announced that Dr. Eileen de Villa will serve as Acting Medical Officer of Health and CEO during Dr. Graham’s parental leave, which is set to begin on Sept. 8, 2026, and last until summer 2027.

Board of Health Chair Kenneth Craig says the Board’s decisions will help ensure organizational stability and leadership continuity, allowing Grey Bruce Public Health to build on the positive momentum achieved during an important new chapter for the organization.

“Dr. Graham has done an excellent job as Acting Medical Officer of Health, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the permanent position,” he says.

“We are also fortunate that Dr. de Villa has agreed to serve as Acting Medical Officer of Health and CEO while Dr. Graham is on parental leave. Dr. de Villa is a respected leader in public health who knows this organization and community well from her time as a Special Advisor to the Board of Health. We are certainly in good hands until Dr. Graham’s return.”

Dr. de Villa brings extensive public health expertise. She served as Medical Officer of Health for the City of Toronto from 2017 to 2024, during which her leadership was instrumental in guiding the city through the COVID-19 pandemic. More recently, as Special Advisor to the Chief Medical Officer of Health, she has demonstrated her dedication to GBPH’s long-term success.

“I am honoured to take on the role of Acting Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive Officer, and to support the important work already underway at GBPH. During Dr. Graham’s absence, I will focus on advancing her vision for the organization, while supporting GBPH staff as they continue delivering essential programs and services to the people of Grey-Bruce,” Dr. de Villa says.

Dr. Graham says she would like to thank the Board of Health, Grey Bruce Public Health staff, GBPH’s partners, and the community for their support during her tenure as Acting Medical Officer of Health and CEO.
