Public Advisory:  Effective Thursday, January 14, 2021at 12:01 a.m., the government is issuing a stay-at-home order requiring everyone to remain at home with exceptions for essential purposes, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services, for exercise or for essential work.  A State of Emergency has been declared in Ontario. First COVID-19 Vaccinations in Grey and Bruce

A ninety-three year old resident of Maple View Long-Term Care Residence in Owen Sound is the first Grey County resident to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Eleonore Kueber was given the first dose of the Pfizer BioNtech COVID-19 vaccine this morning by Public Health Nurse Lisa Lambkin. The Grey Bruce Health Unit has declared the outbreak within the Municipality of The Blue Mountains over as of January 14 2021. On January 1, 2021, the Town of The Blue Mountains, in consultation with the Grey Bruce Health Unit, announced an outbreak within one department of the workplace, that is, there was evidence of transmission of COVID-19 to more than two individuals within the workplace environment, with no evidence of risk to the public.

As the situation continues to evolve, the Grey Bruce Health Unit is pleased to share with you today that the Ministry of Health has approved the release of two initial shipments of the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine to the Grey-Bruce region. The first of these shipments will be arriving the week of January 11, 2021, and the second shipment will be arriving the week of January 25, 2021. In total, the two shipments will contain approximately 1000 doses of vaccine.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit has a proposal before the provincial government, addressed to General Hillier that would provide the Provincial Government with a successful pilot of a Pfizer logistic hub for vaccine delivery in small-urban and rural communities, which is representative of the majority of communities in Ontario.
