Dental Screening

Dental Screening

Dental screening is available to all children in Grey-Bruce from birth until 17 years of age.

Dental screenings are visual assessments done using a sterilized mouth mirror. They do not replace your child's regular dental examination with a dentist.

In School Screenings

Dental screenings are provided annually to children in JK, SK and Grade 2 (as well as certain selected grades) in all elementary schools in Grey-Bruce.

  • Registered dental hygienists from Public Health conduct the dental screenings
  • Sterilized mouth mirrors are used for each student
  • You will be notified if your child requires urgent dental care or a preventive dental service

If your child has a dental problem (cavities, pain or infection), call the dental program to make an appointment. You do not have to wait for the school screening visit. Please call Grey Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 or 1-800-263-3456 (Press 8 for the Dental Program)
