2022 Municipal Election
Voters will be electing mayors, deputy-mayors, and councillors in municipalities throughout Grey-Bruce, along with representatives for both the Grey and Bruce county council tables and trustees for local school boards during the Oct. 24, 2022, municipal election.
Decisions made and policies created at these tables can have significant impacts on individual, population, and community health.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit is encouraging elected officials to take a “health in all policies” position when making decisions. “Health in all policies” is an approach that asks elected officials to recognize the health impacts of each decision they make.
For this municipal election, Public Health has developed a “Health in All Policies” election document (click the image above to access the document) that encourages candidates to prioritize health in Grey-Bruce during the upcoming municipal election.
There are five topic areas in the document that relate to or have an impact on individual, population, and community health.
- Food insecurity;
- Climate change;
- Support for priority populations;
- Community safety and injury prevention; and
- Consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each topic area includes relevant background information, along with locally significant data. There are also “policy options” for each topic that elected officials can consider to assist in improving the health of all in Grey-Bruce.
The goal of this document is twofold: to provide candidates with supporting data and information as well as ideas for policies aimed at improving individual, community, and population health and to equip voters with information to consider when casting ballots in the upcoming municipal election. Voters can support health by asking candidates how they will incorporate healthy and safe community principles into the decisions they make.
